Saturday August 8th - Andy packed his luggage, enjoyed another meal with his mom, and said good-bye.
SUNDAY August 9th - J. Baldwin dropped Andy off at BWI before 5:00 a.m. ; about 12 hours later Andy was sitting on the front porch of his house
WEEK OF RELATIVE QUARANTINE...
10th - day of re-orientation (language, temperature, food, temperature, toilet, temperature...) 
11th - sweated ; unpacked and arranged stuff
12th - translated and received some visitors
13th - translated and received some visitors ; met with Serge ; played card games
14th - translated and received some visitors ; met with the ASAPH Brass Band ; played card games
15th - visited AAF soccer training ; watched WEC and the masons finish up step #2 of his house
SUNDAY 16th - attended church services after a nice morning rain ; spent the afternoon with a bellyache after lunch
17th - translated ; did finances ; met with Jude and some other leaders ; rehearsed ASAPH Brass Band ; ran for maybe 10 minutes
18th - translated ; met with some leaders ; led AAF soccer meeting
19th - translated ; met with some leaders ; planned a music course with Anemson ; attended AAF training ended by huge rain burst ; ran for 13 minutes
20th - translated ; cut a hole in a board for a sewing machine for lady in town ; worked on website

SUNDAY 23rd - played bass for morning worship services ; felt a headache that I recognized as malaria-like ; took chloroquine ; layed around all day and night ; it rained all day ; wind blew a branch down in my yard
24th - a bit more rain ; I took more chloroquine ; began feeling better ; taught two music lessons
25th - woke up feeling fine ; worked on stuff all morning and taught some music in the afternoon ; led soccer team (AAF) meeting ; WEC presented a project to the team on-line...from Cayes where he is at school again

International flights into Haiti begin. Andy purchases a ticket for August 9th...the first Sunday where the ticket price is normal.

MARCH, APRIL, MAY, JUNE 2018

March was alot of work for Christian Aid Ministries...translation and writing. PLUS preparation for Easter!

April was a big weekend of Easter music with the Brass Band raising money for the summer band camp. PLUS more work writing and translating for C.A.M.

May was the big trip across the island to ARCHAIE, HAITI for the nation's annual flag day celebration. (See posted videos and a detailed story of the Special Writings page of this website.)

June was the big soccer tournament which the ASAPH Academy of Football hosted. The ASAPH team won both group games and moved on to the semifinal. They won that game as well in a shutout with three beautiful goals. In the final, there was no score after regulation time. In a long, extended shoot out, the ASAPH goalie finally managed to push away a shot and the next ASAPH player scored. Victory! Champions of the COJAVAF soccer tournament. (See videos).

4 - Creole lesson; music students; worked in yard (Spring cleaning); welcomed an american visitor to the English Club; played soccer; unsuccessfully tried to help a local man with a laptop problem  :( 
5 - Creole lesson; translated for C.A.M., 3 music lessons, attended evening service with a surprising number of people!
6 - Worked with youth group at a sister church, attended local church member meeting, played drums at worship service rehearsal

MARCH 2013 ACTIVITIES:

1 - Rode plane into Port-au-Prince, rode taptap to bus station, rode bus to Intersection 44, rode taxi motorcycle to my house!  Enjoyed hamburger and fries at new restaurant in town!
2 - Cleaned buildings (more space = more work), met with young rapper neighbor, attended rehearsal for worship service
3 - Played for morning worship, swam in the ocean, played sax for outdoor church service in town's market area
4 - Cleaned office space and kitchen, unpacked new supplies from USA, had two meetings with young adults in our church
5 - Set up internet connection, taught 2 music lessons and 1 English club, hanged curtains in my office/bedroom
6 - Prepared and printed a worship song on new music software, led rehearsal of Jr. Youth, led meeting with Worship Team
7 - Worked on worksheets for music students, organized grocery purchase via telephone, led English Club
8 - Translated seminar lessons for another mission, met with musicians from neighboring church (#2), led worship at evening service
9 - Cleaned, translated/wrote a sketch for Jr. Youth, met with youth at a neighboring church (#3), rehearsed with Worship Team
10 - Reviewed with Sunday School children, played trumpet for morning worship service, updated Activities Log on website :) 
11 - Struggled (for hours) unsuccessfully with recording program on new laptop :(, translated for Christian Aid Ministries, helped a young rapper work with the messages in his songs, ran, printed music documents for students
12 - four music lessons and English Club #1

22 - taught Creole class for 2 new missionaries; several music students; heard a student recite level #3 in ASAPH Bible Academy program; Jr. Youth meeting...no one showed up on time
23 - spent the morning on the beach; organized the purchase and delivery of groceries; attended worship service rehearsal
24 - PALM SUNDAY - played trumpet at morning worship; had lunch with WFL folks; Jr. Youth meeting...no one showed up on time; wrote out parts for GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD on new music program!
25 - Creole lesson; translated for Christian Aid Ministries; ran for 20 minutes; took in a young man whose mom and family are in the street for a few nights
26 - Music lessons all day; played soccer; spent the night awake (along with most of our town) after people in town sighted several thieves walking around our area after dark
27 - spent the morning making security improvements
28 - Creole lesson; a few music lessons
29 - GOOD FRIDAY
30 - Jr. Youth final rehearsal; worship team practice
31 - EASTER SUNDAY; taught Sunday school lesson; Jr. Youth participated in leading morning worship with a song, a sketch, and other parts of the service; gave the Easter message!; attended an evening service at the home of a church member suffering from nightly demonic activity

JANUARY 2013 ACTIVITIES:

1 - beach soccer, pumpkin soup

2 - vacation

3 - trip to Cayes, attended 'soccer under the lights'

4 - swam in the ocean, led musicians seminar with Church of God/Prophecy musicians, led evening worship service

5 - rode to Labeleine on motorcycle to visit a family, met with Church of God youth group, attended church members meeting, attended service rehearsal

6 - played trumpet for morning worship, attended meetings, led Jr. Youth meeting, provided the message at evening worship

7 - heard first ASAPH Bible Academy student recite level #1 (Yea!), visited with friends from Indiana, made preparations to leave Haiti

8 - made preparations for being away, one music lesson (with a very talented singer/songwriter from Bassin Caiman), played horseshoes

9 - heard two kids recite level 1 and one kid recite level 2 of the ASAPH Bible Academy program; installed steel door on my office/bedroom

10 - swam in the ocean, packed bags and rode to Port-au-Prince with WFL missionaries

11 - visited with Pastors Rusty Bailey and Don Poole;  flew to PA!


DECEMBER 2012 ACTIVITIES:

1 - swam at the beach, music lesson, trumpet lesson, met with Baptist pastor regarding music, attended church members meeting, rehearsal rained out!

2 - played drums for morning worship service (1st time!), taught kids Sunday program, led Junior Youth meeting, led evening worship

3 - headed to Cayes for supplies, ended up spending two days doing one morning's worth of work

4 - finished purchasing supplies and traveled back to PBO, met with a new group of 4 Compassion Int'l music students, met with English Club (one member present)

5 - Creole lesson, keyboard lessons, drum lessons, Jr. Youth group, Worship Team meeting

6 - Creole lesson, preparation for ASAPH concert, helped Water For Life with school printer, English Club #1

8 - cleaned, wrote, led choir rehearsal, Worship Team rehearsal

9 - traveled to Labaleine to give the Sunday morning message, Jr. Youth meeting

1 - worked on computer, met with church committee

2 - arranged office and built new furniture

4 - worked with Jr. Youth group

5 - put roof on teaching center, started walls, hung one door

6 - nearly finished walls on teaching center, hung second door

7 - had great meeting with youth group, led worship team meeting

8 - began arranging inside of teaching center, one guitar lesson, followed COLTS game on-line

9 - connected and tested brand new sound system  (THANKS, BRIAN!)

11 - played for morning worship, taught kids program, met with youth group, led evening worship

12 - began Creole lessons with new missionary, designed and built shower room

13 - Creole lesson, arranged inside of teaching center

14 - Creole lesson, informal jam session with new instruments, worked with youth group, lead worship team meeting

15 - Creole lesson, decorated inside of teaching center with Bible verses, one guitar lesson, built mosquito-proof sleeping space

16 - Creole lesson, finished decorating inside of teaching center, worked with CHURCH OF GOD/PROPHECY musicians

17 - worked on website, enjoyed slow rainy day, got mail from USA  (THANKS FOR THE TEA, MOM!)

18 - sang with worship team, taught kids program, led Jr. Youth meeting

19 - Creole lesson, worked on fundraising projects (concert, letters), translated letters for another mission

20 - Creole lesson, worked on ASAPH school assembly project, taught guitar lesson, ran on the beach (BE-YOU-TI-FUL!)

21 - Creole lesson, translated letters for another mission, taught English lesson, taught two music lessons, led Jr. Youth meeting, arranged a guest speaker to do vocal seminar with the worship team

22 - THANKSGIVING!  ...traveled to Cayes and back for supplies    (How many people can you fit into a Haitian tap-tap?   One more.)

23 - ran on the beach, worked with CHURCH OF GOD/PROPHECY musicians, led worship at my home church here in PBO

24 - ran on the beach, had first choir meeting, attended rehearsal for worship service

25 - presented Sunday morning message at church in PBO, worked with Jr. Youth group

26 - traveled to Cayes with a fellow missionary

27 - Creole lesson, visited the Labaleine school and made some plans with their church/school leaders, met with Academic Competition leader and began planning annual activities

28 - Creole lesson, guitar lesson, Junior Youth rehearsal, drum lesson, Worship Team meeting, first group prayer dedication 'service' for ASAPH Teaching Center

29 - Creole lesson, translated letters for another mission, read, had first meeting of a new English Club for advanced students

30 - Creole lesson, cleaned stuff, English lesson, met with CHURCH OF GOD/PROPHECY musicians


OCTOBER 2012 ACTIVITIES:

16 - flew into Haiti and rode to PBO

17 - cleaned house, visited people, helped a student with homework

18 - cleaned, visited, attended a worship committee meeting

19 - received supplies sent on the WFL container!  Yea!

20 - unpacked and arranged supplies

21 - preached Sunday morning message, began Jr. Youth meetings

22 - pulled building pieces from container, framed the kitchen (THANKS TO JASON S.)

23 - pulled tin from the container, watched it rain

24 - watched hurricane SANDY

27 - saw the sun, put the roof on the kitchen, played guitar in rehearsal for worship (THANKS TO JASON AND DARYL!)

28 - played for worship service, worked with Jr. Youth, played for evening worship service

29 - finished the kitchen!  Yea!

30 - moved into the kitchen

31 - worked on computer (finance, concert prep), worked with Jr. Youth, led worship team meeting
