I had the priviledge of visiting the good people at Stoneybrook Mennonite Church in York, PA. Then, I also spoke with the good folks at Adamsville United Methodist Church and Yoe United Methodist Church. It's so encouraging to speak with people who are 'into God'. God's family is a beautiful thing. There are brothers and sisters we have never met, but who are so connected through the Grace of Jesus Christ. It's always impressive to me how much people are interested in the plight of people who are so different in soooo many ways. God's love.
Helping poor people isn't all about assuring financial progress. I believe God calls poor people to worship Him. I want to lead people toward living thankful, obedient lives. That is worship. (See Psalm 50:1-14) God's not interested in the goat, it's the heart behind the goat. It has always been about the heart of the worshiper and not the object being sacrificed. May we all grow into living thankful, obedient lives...to the glory of God! I've watched alot of NFL games lately. They remind me more and more of the Haitian soccer games I've attended. Lack of trust in the 'authorities' leads to all kinds of violations and attempts to establish limits. People need authority. Why are we so rebellious? All the way back to Eden it's clear where rebellion will cast us. Thank God for your authorities. And help them to be the best they can be. Fall in PA. Spectacular. Here's hoping all non-tropical residents appreciate the annual changes in temperature.
