The roof is ON!

On Saturday morning folks from town came to help pour the cement roof on my one-room house.  They showed up at around 5:00 and were done pouring the roof by 9:00.  The masons led the job with head mason Cenord Oxima in charge.  There were also a few paid 'mixers' and 'food makers'.  Other than that, it was volunteer labor...in exchange for a meal.  The deal here in town is that if you help me when I pour my roof, I'll help you when you pour yours (like New Orleans funeral musicians:  "You play at my funeral, I'll play at yours.").  For a town that struggles with unity, these days are great examples of it.

Good news regarding the 2 steel buildings.  They'll soon be leaving PA on their way to IN, then FL, then Haiti.  They should arrive this summer...right on time.  My cement room should be finished and able to receive the massive pile of stuff I have coming on this container...from trumpets to carpets.  

I met with the musicians and singers at a church east of here last Friday.  They were a very attentive group.  I'm looking forward to meeting with them regularly and sharing the things I've learned about music/worship/life-with-God.  We'll spend a good bit of time reflecting on who God is.  It's step one in worship...know the one before whom you bow.  

Our town had another handgun incedent last week.  Same gentleman who has already killed one  person here in town.  He pulled the gun, but not the trigger...this time.   Later, his 'defenders' reportedly said he didn't pull the gun on person A, but on person B...an out-of-towner.  Ooohhh!  Well then.   That's much more acceptable, apparently.
