Well. It has been some time since I've been able to post something on this site. I'm adapting to the new realities of internet service in rural Haiti. For months I've been struggling with a hit-or-miss connections. Most of October and November was miss.
My attempts to communicate inspite of the changes included riding on the back of a cycle out to the highway where there was a better signal. It worked, a couple of times. One day even that didn't work. I drank sunshine and dust for nothing. Then one day, the connection was so good it completely drank up my $20 time card. Sucked it away in a matter of an hour. I learned then that you need to purchase a plan instead of paying by the KB. Technology! I've purchased some new equipment, and tried many different things. Still, communication is poor at this point. BUT... All is going well here. I'm busy...as busy as ever. My music students are all preparing for a big benefit concert on Sunday November 30th at 4:00 pm. Lots of preparation time. We're going to try to fit everyone into a two-hour time slot. Most concerts here would just drift into the night. I'm going to try to keep everything on schedule and finish around 6:00...so American of me. The ASAPH Brass Band is playing well. The 15 or so middle/high school players spend quite a bit of time rehearsing and practicing. We'll be playing on Sunday, and then again next Sunday at a big Christian Concert over an hour East of here. Road trip! If you're interested in following ASAPH Teaching Ministry and do not receive our newsletter, be sure to contact us. We'll send a paper copy or an electronic copy...your choice. As you chomp on your Thanksgiving turkey and sides, remember us here in Haiti. It's a regular work day for us. I'll have students all day long getting ready for the concert. And then there's an ASAPH soccer game that evening. Pray that my teaching will fall like gentle rain in the lives of my students. Honor God, ANDY
