On Wednesday evening ASAPH presented an Easter Concert. It was the fifth ASAPH concert here in the USA. It was a special one in that it was specifically an Easter concert, and a bit more like a service than a show. I loved it.
The worship and praise team from Bethlehem United Methodist church provided several wonderful pieces of music...great messages with great music. YOU WERE ON THE CROSS was especially powerful. What a blessing to sit and listen to their songs and to play along with them on a couple as well. The ASAPH horns were back once again. The Caribbean version of CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY came off pretty well. And a couple people said the really appreciated I'LL FLY AWAY, the dixieland version. God is amazing. I planned a few of the segues to go from one song to another. With no planning from me, YOU WERE ON THE CROSS finished with the phrase: ...waiting for the dawn to reappear. And it was followed by? MORNING HAS BROKEN! It is amazing to me that God blesses the guy who prepared the program in the middle of the program he already prepared. God is like that. He's done it in services I lead in Haiti. Great segues that I had never even seen, and there right in the program. SO, it was a beautiful chance to be with Easter people enjoying Easter music. Mary went to the tomb already sad. Then it's empty and she sinks even deeper. Despair. Torment. And a few seconds later, everything fell into place. Joy! Amazing Joy. Amazing grace. Amazing love. There is so much that is amazing about our God.
