I love spending summers in Haiti. The kids are free, and lots of good things can happen. BUT, I love spending summers in Pennsylvania as well with family.
In June I was able to check off two major events while still in Haiti. The ASAPH Academy of Football (Soccer) hosted a one-day tournament on a Saturday in June. It was a ton of work hosting five other teams. JUDES MEDOIT worked like crazy for weeks. In the end the day went by pretty much flawlessly, and the ASAPH team was blessed with the championship trophy! That's two years in a row. Two days later, the ASAPH Brass Band played for the opening of an Agricultural conference that brings together people from all over the island nation of Haiti. Agriculture is a critical focus for the advancement of Haiti, and I am honored to have the chance to encourage that group of people with an evening of entertainment. While I was in the USA enjoying family time, swimming pools, air conditioning, and an amusement park, the ASAPH Brass Band continued to function. They played (for money) a graduation ceremony for a kindergarten, and they marched an annual parade (for money) on a Sunday morning before church services. ASAPH Teaching Ministry is blessed with good leaders. Otherwise, only a tiny portion of the things accomplished recently would have been accomplished. God is good. ON TAP FOR AUGUST: I fly back to Haiti this week. Then, we have Vacation Bible School where we will study the Hebrew Tabernacle and the lessons it gives us about salvation through Jesus Christ. Then we'll do our first ever soccer camp with the ASAPH soccer kids. After that we have scheduled another band camp, the third annual camp for the brass band. None of these events could happen without the prayer and financial contributions of ASAPH supporters. Consider making a contribution today.
